چکیده
Abstract The running-in of cylinder liner-piston rings (CLPRs) is the most important process that must be performed before a marine diesel engine can operated. quality directly affects reliability CLPR. surface texture CLPR has been proven to significantly affect its lubrication performance. In this study, tribological behavior during investigated. Three types textures are generated on via laser processing: dimple piston rings, groove liners, and co-texture both sides. Subsequently, series tests slice tester. A load 300 N (1.64 MPa) applied, two speeds (50 100 rpm) adopted. characterized based three parameters, i.e., friction coefficient, contact resistance, wear topography. Experimental results show that, compared with non-textured surface, mentioned above improved performance running-in. lubricant supply capacity ring, as mobile oil reservoir, stronger than liner serving static reservoir. By contrast, resistance texture, movable debris trap weaker liner, which serves trap. It demonstrated combines advantages dimples textures. Compared surfaces, coefficient decreased at rpm (44.5%), 50 (352.9%). coupling effect provides by optimizing performance, particularly dead center. This study guidance for design manufacturing in engines.

Cavitation induced starvation for piston-ring/liner tribological conjunction
The study investigates the mechanism of ring-liner lubrication in the vicinity of the top and bottom dead centres of an internal combustion engine. Predicting lubricant transient behaviour is critical when the inlet reversal leads to thin films and inherent metal-to-metal interaction. It was found that the cavitation, which is located at the trailing edge of the contact before reversal, briefly...
متن کاملPropagation of Uncertainty in Optimal Design of Multilevel Systems: Piston-Ring/Cylinder-Liner Case Study
This paper proposes an approach for optimal design of multilevel systems under uncertainty. The approach utilizes the stochastic extension of the analytical target cascading formulation. The reliability of satisfying the probabilistic constraints is computed by means of the most probable point method using the hybrid mean value algorithm. A linearization technique is employed for estimating the...
متن کاملStudy on Identification Model of Cylinder Liner-Piston Ring Using Vibration Analysis Based on Fuzzy C-means Clustering
Diesel engines have been widely used in various engineering applications. The performance of diesel engines is influenced greatly by the operation condition of the cylinder liner-piston ring. It is therefore crucial to investigate and assess the working condition of the cylinder liner-piston ring. Literature review indicated that there are few studies on this issue. Therefore, this study propos...
متن کاملEffect of time-dependent piston velocity program on vortex ring formation in a piston/cylinder arrangement
An analytical model describing laminar vortex ring formation in a nozzle flow generator piston/ cylinder arrangement proposed previously by the authors is extended to time-dependent velocity programs. The predictions of the model are in good agreement with the available numerical data for impulsive, linear, and trapezoidal velocity programs. We also show that properly scaled vortex circulation ...
